Choosing an event ticketing and check-in platform: what to check
Tickets, payments, the door, the programme and attendee data: the questions to ask before you pick a platform for your events.

Start from your events, not the tool
Write down the events you run in a year: how many, how big, free or paid, public or by invitation, in one language or two. A platform built for a large festival can be heavy for a monthly meetup, and the reverse.
Tickets and payments
Check that it handles:
- Free, paid and invitation-only tickets, and several ticket types for one event.
- The payment methods your guests use, in your currency.
- Refunds and transfers when someone cannot come.
- Invoices or receipts when companies buy tickets.
Check-in at the door
The door is where problems show. Ask:
- Can staff scan passes from a phone, and what happens on a weak connection?
- Can you see arrivals live, and search by name when a pass will not scan?
- How quickly can a new volunteer learn it on the day?
Programme and speakers
If you run sessions, the programme should be edited in one place and update everywhere: the event page, the passes and any screens. Late changes are normal; the tool should make them easy.
Language and data
For events in the region, check Arabic and right-to-left support on the event page, the passes and the emails. Ask where attendee data is kept, who can export it, and whether you can delete it after the event.
Where we can help
ZoolEvent, our own event platform, covers tickets, check-in, speakers and analytics, in English, Arabic and German. When an event needs its own registration flow or member areas, we build a registration platform around your process.
